ABOUT: The “Celebration of Portland Transportation” will be a series of locally made short films (5-10 minutes each) and two live historical presentations (10 minutes each) highlighting how our community has created Portland’s world class transportation system that services families, seniors, pedestrians, bicyclists, and businesses. The films will show how values and goals around transportation in Portland have changed over time. At the Celebration, a new film from New York City’s Clarence Eckerson will debut about transportation in Portland. This short film will highlight Portland’s citizen involvement, livability, and commitment to a multi-modal transportation system. Samples from this film may be seen online at http://homepage.mac.com/trorb/TOPP/iMovieTheater17 8.html> or http://homepage.mac.com/trorb/TOPP/iMovieTheater18 1.html>.

Other featured short films include “The Defeat of the Mt. Hood Freeway” (it chronicles a public involvement and planning process that changed where Portland has gone as a city); “Seniors on Bikes” (it showcases the City’s new senior bicycle program); and “The Urban Adventure League Old Movie House Tour” (it takes the viewer on a historical movie theater tour in Portland, including the Bagdad).

The event is free. All ages are welcome."
