"Save the date ..5 to 8 PM, Jan13,2007 for the New Years Community Celebration at the SJ Community Center. The event is to help St Johns and Cathedral Park neighbors get together for an early evening of socializing and connection making. The event is sponsored by the St Johns Neighborhood Assoc and the St Johns Business Boosters, with much support from local businesses and resturants. A buffet will be provided and Mudeye Puppet Company will entertain both kids and their parents with a unique show.
This event is to help neighbors new and longtime, young and old; to meet each other and make those important community connections. And to help community organizations connect with their neighbors and help those groups continue the work they do.
So.. please come. And bring a neighbor or three along. Have a fun time and get connected with your community. Engage in those things that make St Johns that special place you love."

The South Riverside Revue is a joyous lip-sync presentation of popular artists and their songs from the 1930's, 40's and 50's. The Revue, with its fun and music, has been performing at Portland-area retirement homes for the past 25 years. They do 10 to 12 shows each year."

"Mother Daughter Partnership Comes to North Portland
No one can think of another strictly mother daughter legal partnership in the state of Oregon. Now one has come to North Portland.
Theresa M. Kohlhoff and her daughter, Elizabeth E. Welch, attorneys at law, located their practice at 5828 North Lombard. Both attorneys are graduates of Lewis & Clark Law School, Portland. Both bring to the community considerable expertise. Theresa M. Kohlhoff has nearly 26 years of experience in almost every area of law - from domestic relations to real estate, lien foreclosure to probate. She has been in practice in Philomath-Corvallis, Wilsonville and Lake Oswego. Elizabeth E. Welch, newly sworn in, has spent most of her nearly nine years pre-attorney career in personal injury work. Fresh from studying for the Bar, she brings a mastery of Oregon law that is hard to replicate.

"Dear Mayor Katz and Commissioners Francesconi,
Leonard, Sten and Saltzman:
I am writing this message to you on behalf of the
Friends of Cathedral Park neighborhood association. At
our general membership meeting last Tuesday (Dec. 14,
2004), FOCP's attending members voted unanimously to
express our continued support for the hard work that
John Farra and other members of the St. Johns
Neighborhood Association have undertaken in their
efforts to reduce street drinking in St. Johns.
Recognizing the negative impact of street drinking on
both the economic vitality of the St. Johns town
center, and on the livability of surrounding
residential areas, we call on the city and the OLCC to
deploy an Alcohol Impact Area in St. Johns, as
recommended by the Portland Police Bureau and Distict
Attorney's office."

" My wife and I have lived on Haven Ave for six years and have watched the 25 mph, residential speed limit broken so many times that we lost count. A stop sign was put up at the intersection of Hunt and Haven this past June, hoping to slow the traffic down a bit, but most people have ignored that too.

A ROOF IS GOOD, BUT WHAT ABOUT THE LIGHTS?
Tonight SPS received unanimous support from the general membership of the St. Johns Neighborhood Association to put a roof over the redeveloped skatepark. In securing neighborhood support, SPS has completed every political step necessary to make the redeveloped park happen.
But wait, there's more."
