Potter should welcome the FBI

Emilie Boyles writes "I normally am part of the Tom Potter Fan Club, I believe he is off-base on his latest open letter to the Portland community.

One only needs to run a brief history of local government to find that many of our past administrations have participated in now-publicly known corrupt and illegal activities. Generally speaking, the rumors and murmurs of those activities existed for years prior to exposure and were generally identifiable by specific patterns of activity.

Recently the Oregonian reported on a series of “unnecessary” testimonies to city commissioners who were already predisposed to specific issues. One Commissioner's Chief of Staff has been known as a corporate non-profit and small-business hit-man for years. It is common knowledge that certain projects that are targeted for low-income and minority populations are not being reviewed by Federally-mandated review boards, and, most recently, the City is considering opening a hotel of its own after condemning the land intended to be used to build a Convention Center Hotel by a local small businessman not in the loop of the local business community.

Portland has issues of organized crime murmurs with the likes of Neil and Steve Goldschmidt, Vera Katz, Bruce Broussard, and Bob Durston. (Broussard even held one of Potter's early fundraising dinners at his home.)

With such past and recent rumors of RICCO-convictable behavior, Potter should be welcoming the help of the FBI to dispel rumors of corruption in his administration and deter the further blemishing of Portland's name.

Given that former Police Chief and current Mayor Tom Potter has argued with the FBI in the past, and given the political climate at the Federal Level, it is surprising that you, Emilie, would advocate that a federal agency is well suited to act as a watchdog in this case. I am 100% in support of Tom Potter's letter, and shrill cries from people like you make me support his actions and positions even further.

You are so clearly an astroturf activist.

By the way, please correct the numerous spelling and grammar errors on your site. "Irregardless" is not a word. I tried to read through your site but the fourth grade level composition made my eyes hurt. I wonder if your disdain for bloggers has something to do with jealousy of writing skills.
