Buckman Community Association writes "Despite the city's promise to keep Buckman Pool open with the passage of the Parks levy in May 2002, the city is looking at closing the pool before the levy funding has ended. Many of us campaigned hard to insure that the levy would pass. There are still three years of funding left on this levy!

We need to keep the Buckman Pool open. As a member of the committee that studied the feasibility of a new inner southeast community center, I learned that the area this pool serves is larger than just the Buckman neighborhood and Buckman school. If we allow the city to close this pool, then we have lost a recreational facility, which serves the inner east side, with no guarantee of its replacement, given the current budget outlook."

Please send Mayor Potter, the city Commissioners and Parks Director Zari Santner e-mail stating your support for keeping the pool open. You can do this easily at http://www.buckmanu.org/savethepool which will automatically send your letter to the above officials.
